Adventure Summary
Downtown Dallas through Bus Shade, Dallas TX.
First, the bus. It was indeed a nice bus, with reclining seats and a bathroom. Basically an airplane without wings. However, I won't be doing this again. The main problem: I can't pull over and stretch anytime I feel like it. That loss of freedom was more crippling than I expected.
Parking, Houston TX.
Second, the funk. Houston was indeed funky. We photo-walked from a touristy area to the edge of a real area. The problem for me was, neither place was "real" enough to photograph. I found a few compelling details, like this reflected parking sign, but overall, I wouldn't have chosen the locations.
Trick Cyclist and Photo-walk Organizer, Houston TX.
What was fun, though, was working with models. I'd never done that before. The guy organizing it, a local who'd studied photography in college, had some of his friends come by and work with us. That was cool. It's not something I want to do as far as my personal art goes, but it was still a good experience, and I think I made a couple of nice shots.
Just as Napoleon liked to watch people watching the theater, I like to take photos of people taking photos:
Photographer and Model, Houston TX.
Of my own modeling shots, this is my favorite:
Dude and His Truck, Houston TX.
For stuff closer to my style, this was my favorite
Dude's Hat on Bench Seat, Houston TX.
And for stuff exactly my style, I liked this:
