Lower the Bar and Raise Your Life

Don’t worry about sounding impressive. Be useful, and you’ll be impressive without trying.

Don’t worry about whether the place you live is cool enough. Be useful there, and it becomes cool because you showed up.

Don’t worry about that imaginary checklist you built for a partner; the one you stitched together from daydreams and movies. Does the person you're with make your life better? Do they make other people’s lives better? Do they have long-term friends? If yes, stay. If not, no matter how hot… move on.

Don’t worry about finding spiritual fulfillment through your career. If you don’t wake up Monday with a knot in your stomach, the job is good enough. Be useful there, and make it better.

Be a giver more than a taker. Leave things better than you found them. Give when no one’s watching. Be the kind of person you’d want to meet on the day you’re running on empty.
