Rainy Day
Rain-gauge, Denton Texas.
I am grateful for rain.
It quiets the world, reminds me that plants own most of it, and soothes my bronchitis.
It dims the sun, which in Texas we get enough of.
It reminds me of times when I'd have friends come over to play a game, and there was no reason to feel guilty because we weren't outdoors, where we were constantly being told to go.
My ex thinks I don't like the outdoors, but it's not true. I don't like gardening, and yards don't particularly interest me, though I find mowing satisfying. Even today, I'll drive 10 miles to walk 3 miles through the woods. I used to be able to do that straight from my backdoor, but those days are gone.
